The Wheel of Time

There is something quietly unsettling, and yet strangely revealing, about the times we are moving through right now, it’s as though life itself has begun to gather pace in a way that is difficult to fully grasp. Everything feels as though it is speeding up. Events no longer arrive one at a time but seem to overlap, conversations move more quickly, decisions are made almost in real time, and there is a subtle pressure to understand what is happening even as it unfolds.

At times, you may feel as though you are keeping up on the outside, while something within you is still catching up, still processing, still trying to make sense of what has already shifted. It is a slightly disconcerting feeling and this month does not ask you to rush that process, May is not simply about movement or change, although there is plenty of both of those energies. It is about recognising what is real, what has already shifted, and what is now asking to be acknowledged, even if it has taken time to settle within you. This is a good time to take your time with these reflections and allow your understanding to unfold in its own way, nothing forced.

We are coming out of a period that has shifted things more deeply than it may have first appeared, here comes a bit of astrology, with the recent meeting of Saturn and Neptune in Aries already setting in motion a quiet but decisive clearing of what is no longer workable, while Saturn now moves ahead to define what must become real. At the same time, Pluto, now stationing and beginning its retrograde, draws attention inward, encouraging a deeper kind of reflection a more honest appraisal of what is really going on beneath the surface, while Uranus, just moved into Gemini and is already quickening thought, conversation, and the sheer volume of information that is now moving through our lives.

Where May truly begins

Early May opens with an emotional undercurrent that is difficult to ignore, as the Scorpio Full Moon draws out what has been sitting beneath the surface for some time, whether that is grief, truth, resentment or longing, this is not to unsettle for the sake of it, but to reveal what is real so that something more honest can begin. A few days later the atmosphere begins to shift and the mind wakes up, bringing moments of clarity, unexpected conversations, or a change in perspective that cuts through emotional heaviness, so that what felt dense or complicated may suddenly be seen in a different light.

Beneath all of this, something deeper is at work, now with Neptune moving through Aries and able to work on its own, it is like a spiritual blowtorch, not something that soothes, but something that burns. It burns through illusion, through identities we have carried without question, and through stories that no longer hold truth. It reveals what is real by stripping away what is not, and it does so without waiting for the right moment or the right conditions. This can feel confronting, and at times it can feel like loss, as things that once felt certain begin to fall away and your world feels shaken not because something has gone wrong, but because they were never quite right in the first place. It is important to understand that what remains will be something far more honest, not perfect and not fully resolved, but undeniably real.

As we move further into the month, a more grounded turning point begins to emerge, where you feel your attention shifts towards what can be built from here, not in theory, but in real and lived terms, this energy is often accompanied by an awareness that something has been lost or released, and that new growth comes from accepting that cycle rather than resisting it. At the same time, a deeper layer may be activated, where old wounds around identity, strength or self-worth rise to the surface, not to overwhelm, but to be seen with greater awareness and understanding.

Insight Leads to Choice

Mid month the tone becomes more intense and purposeful, bringing moments of pressure, frustration or tension, particularly where control or unresolved dynamics are involved, yet alongside this there is also the potential for deeper understanding and a more conscious relationship with personal power, so that it becomes less about reacting and more about recognising what is true and acting from that place. Running quietly beneath all of this is a turning point, a gradual shift away from needing to control, fix or explain everything and towards something much more intuitive, more compassionate, and more trusting, which may not always feel comfortable but work through that because this is the way of our future and this period is quietly supportive and transformative in its own way.

So May carries a clear movement, emotional truth leads to insight, and insight leads to a choice about what kind of life to build from here, be aware and don’t forget, there is value in pausing long enough to notice what you feel before deciding what it means, and in allowing yourself time before responding. There is a quiet intelligence in trusting your own timing, your own intuition and your own knowing. In a world that is accelerating, discernment becomes more valuable than speed, and the ability to sense what is true for you, rather than reacting to what is loud or urgent, this trusting is what will steady you. You can choose your own speed now, so make your pace steady and deliberate until something within you recognises truth when it arrives, and do not try to fix anything or anyone else, choose yourself for now.

A personal note

Over the last few years while caring for my husband, I have come to understand just how helpful astrology can be, not because it removes difficulty, but because it brings a deeper understanding of the cycles and the type of energies we are moving through at any given time. Being able to make sense of fear or confusion, and to see it within a wider cycle of awareness, has helped me keep my feet on the ground, and in doing so, astrology has become a language I am grateful to have learned.

When my husband recently passed, after thirty-six years together, it marked the completion of a significant cycle, one that was reflected in both of our charts as the natural closing of a karmic contract. There is grief, of course, and moments where the absence feels too real to bare, but alongside that there is also a quiet understanding that something very important in my life had reached its natural end.

I love him deeply and will miss him deeply, I am grateful for the life we shared and the lessons we learned together and from each other. We were, in many ways, a bloody good team. R.I.P. Michael David Campbell

Closing Thoughts

Right now, we are all in the middle of some sort of a wake-up, an evolution, not at the end of something, but at the beginning, and it is messy because real change always is and as we move towards the summer, there is a sense that something is building, even if you cannot yet see exactly what it is or where it will lead. You do not need to have the answers right now because what matters is that you stay with yourself as things shift, that you allow what is real to show itself in its own time, and that you trust your own sense of what feels true, even if it is still forming.

So let May be what it is and allow it to land in you in its own way, and at its own pace.
And in the midst of it all, something in you is quietly remembering who you are… and that, in itself, is quite an interesting story.
