What is Sound Healing?

Sound Meditation, Sound Bath, Sound Healing, and Sound Therapy are all different names for the same alternative mindfulness meditation practice. Their goal is to guide you into a state of stillness and shift your nervous system from survival to creativity mode. This is a significant shift for most of us, as we often struggle to quiet our minds and focus on the never-ending list of tasks that drive us towards productivity. Sound meditation offers a unique path to meditation, as simple as lying down and listening to different sound frequencies with an open and curious mind.

Sound Meditation aids the “Broaden & Build Theory” in Positive Psychology. Assisting your parasympathetic nervous system opens your ability to come from a place where creativity flows and releases tension and stress. Interpretation of this process as demonstrated below.

However, mindfulness practice alone cannot tackle severe symptoms of stress, anxiety, depression, PTSD and other mental health issues. Modern studies and research have recommended that to effectively deal with this, including practice for the body such as Yoga, Breathwork, exercise, and dancing (amongst the choices), and either talking therapy, CBT, or psychotherapy partnered with Sound Meditation can tackle the symptoms and reframe our stress response. The feeling of community and connectedness, an integral part of Sound Meditation, can make you feel included and part of a supportive network.

Depending on what you have going on for you in your life at the moment, (physical, emotional, mental & spiritual) can determine how you could feel after a session. When sitting with the Sounds, it is largely about the intentions we set for ourselves. And the effects could last up to 3 days. Having a peaceful mind, feeling rejuvenated and calm. Instant relief from any aches and pains that you are currently experiencing. Toxins will be brought out to the surface to clear, so you could experience cold like symptoms that last up to 3 days. Feeling more motivated to make some changes. Experiencing “Eureka moments” . If your body needs a longer rest period, it will prompt you to take notice so that you have no option but to rest. This can be challenging for some, who finds distraction from their problems by being busy.
